Researching PostgreSQL Performance
Results from different OS and FS
In this talk, we will present a detailed analysis of the scenarios tested (different loads and number of users). Furthermore, measurements reflecting improvements in the newer PostgreSQL version will be summarized.
How do we tune PostgreSQL? There is no cake recipe. The default configuration is far from being good to a high-end hardware. The problem is that it's hard to find a good configuration for different database designs. Thinking about it, we did a research aimed to test dozens of available operating system and DBMS parameters, and different filesystems. It was used 64-bit multiprocessor Linux plataforms and a fiber channel SAN.
