Joe Conway
Joe Conway has been involved with PostgreSQL as a contributor since 2001. His Postgres work includes implementation of set-returning (a.k.a. table) functions, improvements to bytea and array data types, implementation of multirow VALUES lists, several "contrib" libraries, and other miscellaneous features and fixes. He is also the author and maintainer of a PostgreSQL procedural language handler for the R language, PL/R.

Mr. Conway has over 20 years of experience including software engineering, database development, cryptographic key management system design, system architecture, software lifecycle, precision manufacturing, planning, engineering, product development, documentation, training, project management, and information technology.
He has extensive hands-on experience in system control, data acquisition, database, software, web, and report development for automation of business and production processes, and quality inspections. He has managed databases used for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Customer Relationship Management systems (CRM), and internally developed applications with databases in excess of 1 terabyte in size.
Mr. Conway has served as Director, System Controls Architect for Cymer Inc. since December, 2004. In this role he defines the architecture and design for, and directs development of, the Master System Controller for the TCZ 900X (LCD flat panel display production equipment). From January 1998 to November 2004 he served as Cymer's Director of Data Systems, and was responsible as the primary architect of overall enterprise data strategy and structure. Mr. Conway oversaw all development and support of all corporate wide database application systems and implementation projects. From February 1997 to December 1997, Mr. Conway served as Cymer’s Process Control Manager. In this role, Mr. Conway was responsible for overseeing the start-up and staffing of the Process Control Dept.’s four functional areas.
From May 1989 to February 1997, Mr. Conway was employed at Carpenter Special Products Corp. as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Manager Planning and Operations Systems, and as a Project Engineer/Manufacturing Engineer.
From June 1984 through February 1989 Mr. Conway served as a Nuclear Power Officer in the U.S. Navy, primarily aboard the Los Angeles class fast attack submarine USS Chicago (SSN 721).
