With more than 20 years of programming experience Gavin has been a key player in the formation of several open source projects and online communities including Framewerk.org, the GameSurge IRC Network and Pathetic.org. Gavin has also worked closely with internet startup companies and established retailers in providing system analysis services and architecture strategy. As previous maintainer of the Zend Developer Zone, contributing to open source projects and open source advocacy efforts remains a priority.

In his role at myYearbook.com he has had the unique opportunity to scale a PostgreSQL implementation to support billions of page views per month. In the past he has spoken on PostgreSQL at OSCON and most recently at the Highload++ conference in Moscow, Russia.
